This book was sad because one of my favourite characters was killed. I thought it was very brave of Darren to go down the stream to escape the villain.

The vampire council send Darren on a test of his abilities and cunning to find out if he is a good vampire. He completes the first 3 of 12 challenges and nearly dies on the 4th but his friend Harcat saves his life. I really likes Harcat because he is the only one of his speciies that actually talks.
