Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure: Book 1
Alex T. Smith
From the international bestselling creator of Claude, comes a brand new hero - Mr Penguin, adventurer and penguin. Indiana Jones meets Hercule Poirot in this new Alex T. Smith series with plenty of slapstick humour, mystery and adventure. Highly illustrated throughout with a striking black and orange design. It has been weeks since Mr Penguin's last adventure and he's been stuck at his desk, twiddling his flippers ever since. That is until the phone rings! Mr Penguin and Colin (a spider and Mr Penguin's silent right hand man) are called in to find the missing treasure somewhere in the Museum of Extraordinary Objects. The quest finds them solving secret codes, fighting ferocious beasts, eating fish finger sandwiches and travelling deep below the museum to a lost jungle... Praise for Alex T. Smith's Claude series: 'Illustrated with humour and elegance.' Sunday Times 'Quirky illustrations with plenty of humour.' The Metro Claude won the 5-9 young fiction Sainsbury's Children's Book Award, was selected for the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize, the Richard and Judy Book Club and is soon to be a TV star on Disney Junior with 52 episodes airing in 2017. Reviews
I loved this book because it kept you hooked, thrilled and interested. Additionally, I also really enjoyed the suspension, mystery and made you want to solve the problem with Mr Penguin himself. I could make vivid images in my mind and the illustrations are hilarious yet beautiful.

I really enjoyed this book as it was a mystery book. I love mystery books as you don't know what can happen next, or you have a feeling something bad will happen (like in this book). The only thing I would improve would be adding more detail. The thing I liked best, was making the journey very, very interesting. There was a river inside of the museum and a jungle! In fact, my favourite character is the spider, Colin. He had to write on a notebook to actually communicate which was a bit funny. He was an innocent spider who was treated as a human! I would happily recommend this to someone as they could also feel like a detective trying to figure out where the noise was coming from (Miss Bones banging on the cupboard to get out).

I like this book because it’s funny but a bit scary at the same time. It’s a good adventure for younger children who want something like Indiana Jones. Probably for ages 7-9 years old. A brilliant adventure with a brilliant penguin and don’t forget Colin the spider. Reviewed by: Esquire Sketch Satellite
