From number one bestselling author David Walliams comes another heartfelt but hilarious hoot of an adventure Stella Saxby is the sole heir to Saxby Hall. But awful Aunt Alberta and her giant owl will stop at nothing to get it from her. Luckily Stella has a secret – and slightly spooky – weapon up her sleeve…

Reviews

This book was about an orphaned girl who comes from a very rich family. She overcame an awful aunt, by befriending an owl, who helped her. I liked this book because it was exciting and had an unexpected end.

My favourite character was Stella. (The main character) This book is about Stella just waking up from coma when she thinks her awful aunt Alberta is trying to lock her up. She try’s to escape. I would recommend this book to other people ages 8-12.

It was a great book, it was so exciting that I had to pry my eyes off the book so I could eat. Either "soot" or Stella I can't choose I'd rather not say her name

Stella Saxby is the sole heir to Saxby Hall bu her awful aunt Alberta and her pet owl Wagner is going to try and take it from her. Stella has been in coma for a few months since “the accident” ( Alberta calls it that ) and Aunt Alberta had bandaged Stella up saying she had broke all the bones in her body. When Stella try’s to escape Alberta’s pet owl , Wagner, brought her back to the house - following his mistress’s commands. Then the awful aunt locks poor Stella in the cellar. Down in the dark cellar, Stella finds a ghost called Soot. At first she is really really scared but as Soot explains everything about him Stella’s fear fades. Together they face all their fears and stand up against the awful auntie. When they save the house, Wagner and themselves, Soot and Stella desevere a lot of kindness and face certain danger.

I love this book because the girl called Stella didn't sign the deeds to her awful Auntie. She was very brave for a little girl. I found some parts of the book funny specially when the awful Auntie fell into the toilet hole, her face was black and her mouth full of bubbles. This book was fiction. I would recommend it!

A funny thriller that made me laugh out loud. It was set in Victorian times or something like that and that just intrests me. I liked Stella the most. How she never gave up, Until it felt like she had too. I also liked Soot and how they became freinds when they are opposites.
