I liked this because it showed the work that was put in to create the first hot air balloon. My only dislike about it is that there is too many mentions of blood and sometimes it makes me feel really uncomfortable.

My faverout character was Magpie and I really loved the ending!

I really enjoyed this book but I feel like it could have given us readers a little bit more information about what the main characters looked like, how they seemed and acted and also what they sounded like. However I also like that because there was very little information, you could make up the characters in your head, yet-i believe that- it would have been better with information as you can picture what they should really be like and that there is more of a storyline because descriptions of people can give you vibes, such as bad guy vibes or kind, caring people vibes yet I did enjoy this book and whoever reads this review, don't let it put you off the book, I am just saying what could be improved even though it is a cracking book

This is one of the best books I have ever read! I couldn’t take my eyes away from it. I would recommend this book to children nine and above. The plot of the story is so gripping that you wouldn’t be able to put the book down! The story is about an orphan girl called Magpie (she is a thief) who once stole something very important from a family and almost got caught! Later on in the story that very same family that she stole from saved her and cared for her. Realising how upset she had made them she slaved her day working for them frantically trying to repay them…

I loved it It was so exciting and it really made me feel on summer holidays as it was so good. The characters are filled with mystery and hidden bravery, you feel so connected to the book and the characters. As when they fail you feel sad but when something finally works you feel so happy for them I highly recommend this Read this book !!!

Book was OK. I liked the start and then they were in a flying balloon saving the city. Nice but not as good as Harry Potter

I enjoyed this book because it was set in the past with a person with a sad backstory and managed to end up in a better lifestyle. My favourite character was Magpie because she was very smart with her ideas and Monsieur Joesph would be my second one because he was the whole reason the book was interesting (in my beliefs). I would recommend this book to children who like to read an exciting adventure with obstacles coming their way and having to find solutions.

This book is great. It’s fiction but based on an historical invention. It’s thrilling, intriguing and I loved it. My favourite character was Magpie, she’s the main character. I’d recommend it to everyone
